      Recommended use

      Food supplement suitable for adults and children (from 4 years onwards) with the following recommendations:

      • Take 1 capsule daily, preferably with breakfast.
      • If desired, or professionally directed, can be increased to 2 capsules a day.

      • Can be used on an ongoing basis.

      • For anyone unable to swallow capsules, the capsule can be opened and the contents mixed into cool food or drinks.
      • Do not exceed recommended daily dosage.

      Storage instructions

      • For best results, do not remove desiccant sachet from the glass jar and close lid firmly after each use.
      • Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C and out of direct sunlight. For maximum potency, can be refrigerated after opening.

      Safety

      Live cultures are not recommended for those with serious medical conditions e.g. those who are severely immunosuppressed, have pancreatitis, are in the ICU, have melaena, have a central venous catheter, infants with short bowel syndrome, or patients with open wounds following major surgery; unless under a doctor's care. Keep out of reach of children.

    A max strength friendly bacteria supplement typically contains at least 50 billion live cultures. Some people find they feel better when taking maximum strength digestive supplements. But it's not always necessary, as in some cases a strain may be better suited at doses of just 1 billion live cultures1. We always recommend taking high-quality, extensively studied strains which have been researched for your individual needs. Optibac Every Day MAX contains 75 billion live cultures of the highest quality friendly bacteria, including the world’s most researched strain of acidophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM®.

    Many people like to take a daily live cultures supplement on an ongoing basis to complement their gut bacteria. Research1,2 to date suggests that long-term use is fine, even when taking maximum strength supplements, as the body does not become dependent on the good bacteria.

    It is absolutely fine to change to a lower strength friendly bacteria supplement if you feel that may suit you better. Every Day EXTRA contains 20 billion live cultures and, like Every Day MAX, is vegan and does not contain FOS fibres.

    Yes, it is safe and generally advisable to take a daily live cultures supplement. Good bacteria only colonise in the gut for a few weeks and research1,2,3 suggests that a regular intake of friendly bacteria digestive supplements helps to complement the gut microbiome.

    In general, it’s best to take your friendly bacteria at breakfast time, as this is when stomach acidity is closer to neutral. Taking live cultures with food further helps to buffer the acid and help the live cultures into the gut. If you don't eat breakfast, simply take with your first meal or snack of the day.
